A multidisciplinary initiative in formation

Advancing surgery.
Connecting people.

World Society of Robotic Surgeons is being developed as a space for surgeons to exchange knowledge, build research partnerships and support thoughtful progress in robotic surgery.

01 / Our purpose

A community built
around shared learning.

Our proposed mission is to connect clinicians across specialties and countries through accessible scientific exchange and collaborative research.

The initiative is in its founding phase. We are developing its governance, initial faculty and programme before launching formal membership. Participation will not itself certify surgical competence or confer professional accreditation.

01 — LEARN

Exchange experience

Focused discussions on training pathways, evidence and the practical questions facing surgical teams.

02 — INVESTIGATE

Build research together

Connect colleagues around feasible research questions, transparent methods and responsible collaboration.

03 — CONNECT

Bridge specialties

Create opportunities for established surgeons and colleagues entering robotics to learn from one another.

02 / First scientific conversation

Proposed programme · Not yet scheduled

Building a pathway
into robotic surgery.

An initial online discussion with a urology focus, designed to start a wider conversation across surgical disciplines.

Date, speakers and registration will be announced only after confirmation. No CME accreditation is currently claimed.

  1. 01From conventional surgery to a structured robotic training pathway
  2. 02Simulation, mentorship and supervised clinical experience
  3. 03Research questions that an emerging community can address
  4. 04Open discussion: shaping the first year of the initiative

03 / Founding leadership

Clinical experience.
A collaborative ambition.

Dr Hamidreza Shemshaki

Founder & President, WSRS · Urologist

A urologist with clinical, research and scientific meeting experience, developing this initiative to bring colleagues together around robotic surgery education and research.

Founding governance and the scientific advisory group are being developed. Additional names and institutional affiliations will appear only with permission. Institutional endorsement is not implied.

04 / Shape what comes next

Bring your perspective
to the conversation.

Potential contributions include scientific discussions, research collaboration and support for the founding programme.

To express interest in joining the founding community, email your name, specialty, country and the contribution you would like to explore. We review enquiries personally; sending an enquiry does not automatically confer membership.

Please do not include patient information or confidential clinical material.

Across surgical disciplines

Different specialties.
A shared field of progress.

Surgical robotics extends beyond a single platform or specialty. Our intended scope includes both soft-tissue surgery and robotic applications in bone and spine surgery.

We will develop specialty activities as contributors join, beginning with a focused urology programme. These areas describe our scope, not established departments or confirmed faculty.

SOFT-TISSUE SURGERY

Urology, general surgery & gynaecology

Scientific exchange spanning urologic, colorectal, general surgical and gynaecologic applications.

BONE & SPINE

Orthopaedics & neurosurgery

Robotic applications in knee and hip arthroplasty, spine instrumentation and selected neurosurgical procedures.

SPECIALISED APPLICATIONS

Thoracic, cardiac & head and neck surgery

A place for colleagues working with robotic approaches in these specialised fields.
